Nick Mauer:
Strategic Leadership | Academic Coach
In his coaching, Nick draws from over fifteen years of professional experience in leadership roles with responsibilities spanning communication, education, community engagement, and marketing. Nick brings substantial cross-cultural experience to his coaching, having lived in Asia and Europe and having traveled in well over a dozen countries. He has worked in the US and abroad with multiple organizations, coordinating and facilitating projects that benefitted communities and underserved/at-risk populations.
In addition to being a Strategic Leadership Coach for ThriveTribe, Nick also heads up ThriveTribe’s Academic Coaching program. In this role, Nick brings broad experience equipping university and graduate students to flourish. Since graduating from university with high honors, Nick has continued to pursue lifelong learning through graduate studies with coursework in multiple areas—including marketing, linguistics, and organizational behavior.
Nick understands the multi-faceted nature of a successful college experience: he taught at the university level and has worked in college admissions, as a residence hall counselor, a coordinator for student community engagement, and an academic coach. Nick recognizes that success in college means more than good grades; it involves a holistic approach to student development that starts with identifying goals and values, then building a plan to achieve what’s most important. Nick believes education should be sustainable—pursued in a way that equips students to graduate stronger, not run-down and worn out. He tailors each coaching session to facilitate academic success.
Nick is a lifelong Marylander who loves crabs, county fairs, and the Chesapeake Bay. He also loves pork barbecue—preferably Carolina vinegar or mustard. When not spending time with his beloved family, you can find Nick playing his guitar, plunking on his piano, reading a book, or plotting another international trip.
